La Boquilla

La Boquilla

The state of Oaxaca offers a unique triad of tourism... archaeological ruins, colonial cities and spectacular nature (lush mountainous landscapes, rocky coasts and protected bays and coves), providing visitors with a unique menu of experiences.

The 300 meters of secluded Playa La Boquilla offers plenty of space for relaxing and enjoying this natural environment, especially swimming, snorkeling and kayaking.

More about La Boquilla...

La Boquilla is a bay carved in a curious half-moon shape isolated with a barrier of hills and vegetation, one of the most beautiful places on the Oaxacan "Costa Chica."

By its very nature, Hotel Bahía de la Luna is ideal for romantic holidays, relaxing on the beachside "Bali beds," dining by candlelight steps from the sea, falling asleep to the sound of the ocean's heartbeat.

What to do in La Boquilla?

If you love water activities "go for it..." kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, paddle boarding, fishing, whale/turtle/dolphin watching or simply supervising the ocean. You can also practice some yoga on the beach and go hiking among the exotic flora and fauna of one of the most peaceful Oaxaca beaches.

How to get to La Boquilla?

La Boquilla is a little off the beaten path. If you’re planning on flying to the Huatulco airport (HUX), contact us at Hotel Bahía de la Luna to arrange a taxi for airport transportation to our hotel and beach in 40 minutes.

Stay, dine & relax!

General Information: Beaches in Oaxaca

The beaches of Oaxaca are located well away from Oaxaca city, 8 hours by bus, 6 to 7 hours by car or just 30 minutes by air. The drive to the beaches (bus or car) can be an incredibly beautiful experience; or a very frightening one, depending on the conditions of the roads. It is not at all uncommon to find the roads washed out, or impassable, due to heavy rains.

You can fly to Huatulco or Puerto Escondido from Oaxaca. Flying will make the trip effortless, on your part, and relieves any of the worries about road conditions. If you must have a car, you can rent a car in either Huatulco or Puerto Escondido.

The coast of Oaxaca, at least for now, has remained one of México’s relatively undiscovered beach areas. At this point in time the Oaxaca coast has managed to preserve its natural beauty. The publicity blitz that is promoting Huatulco will slowly change this status. Hopefully this area will never become blatantly overcrowded.

The Oaxaca coast used to be one of the sea turtle’s worst enemies; lately it has become a savior of this endangered species. This is now one of the few remaining places in México that you can see these beautiful creatures on a regular basis, in any numbers.

Hotel Bahía de la Luna is in La Boquilla Beach, on the coast of Oaxaca. It is situated in an exclusive bay where you swim, sunbathe or read a book while relaxing on a hammock.

Visit with your couple, your family or friends. Have a cozy; natural and paradisiac weekend at the Hotel Bahía de la Luna, it will last forever.
