Our STORY
When we (George & Laura) discovered Bahia de la Luna 20+ years ago, its Oaxacan nature, rustic charm, and unique stargazer legacy captured us. Our mission is simply to preserve and share that original tranquil essence. Experience it through our connection to nature, warm local staff, fresh coastal gastronomy, and the profound beauty we fell in love with.
We believe true luxury lies in simplicity. Our handmade adobe cabañas and the calm of the bay create a space where nature and comfort flow together, offering honest and effortless hospitality.
EVERYONE is welcome here —families, couples, friends or solo travelers. More than a stay, it’s a space for connection, kindness, and simply being.
Built with the support of the local zapotec town, most of our team is from nearby Aroya Cruz. Their stories shape the soul of Bahía de la Luna —and often, our guests leave feeling part of it.

Epic Beach Vacation! This is THE place to relax on the beach in a low key but very nice setting with attentive good service. It was a great place to spend quality time with friends and we were so content we did not leave for a week once we arrived. The drinks were delicious and I am still thinking about them and telling friends at home about them. Overall, a great choice when visiting the coast of Oaxaca.
My son and I had a wonderful time at this hotel with friends. That being said, it is a great place to meet up with a group of people because of multiple accommodations. The cabanas are rustic, but are very comfortable and you feel like you are really experiencing mexico! Food is great. Drinks are wonderful and the staff work really hard to make your stay special. We enjoyed swimming and snorkeling, but also just enjoyed sitting under the canopies in the shade. It is extremely private. It was a magical vacation for us!
The service of the waiters is spectacular, very friendly and cordial. However, the attention of the person in charge of the reception was unfortunately quite bipolar. The cooks were good but every day there was some fruit missing. I thought that the place would be perfect if those details that make the tourist want to return are taken into account. Thank you and I hope that Mr. Jorge can make changes.
